Honasa Consumer, the parent company of Mamaearth, has elevated Vipul Maheshwari to Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO), effective October 23, 2026, as the beauty and personal care company steps up its focus on artificial intelligence and technology-led operations.
Maheshwari, who previously served as Executive Vice President for Product and Data, will oversee product, technology, engineering and analytics. His mandate includes advancing Honasa’s AI-led transformation and developing agentic AI capabilities designed to support multi-step workflows with appropriate human oversight.
Honasa Consumer Puts AI at the Centre of Its Strategy
The appointment reflects Honasa’s effort to build technology deeper into its business operations. The company is developing AI-powered tools and intelligent workflows to simplify processes, automate routine tasks and help teams make decisions faster, according to the announcement.
Agentic AI refers to systems that can carry out a sequence of tasks towards a goal, rather than simply responding to a prompt. In a consumer business, such systems could support workflows across data analysis, internal operations and product-related decisions. The actual business impact will depend on how these tools are deployed, monitored and measured.
For a company managing multiple beauty and personal care brands like Mamaearth,The Derma Co, Aqualogica, Dr. Sheth’s, BBlunt, Staze 9to9, Luminéve & Reginald Men. better use of data and automation could help connect customer insights with product development and everyday decisions. This is a potential operational benefit, rather than a confirmed outcome of the appointment.
Who Is Vipul Maheshwari?
Maheshwari joined Honasa Consumer in August 2020 and has worked across product, data analytics and AI. He holds an integrated master’s degree in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Delhi and previously worked at Delhivery and Global Analytics India Pvt. Ltd.
His elevation also signals Honasa’s focus on developing leadership from within the organisation. Co-founder and CEO Varun Alagh has emphasised the role of technology in the company’s growth and said Maheshwari’s experience in product and data makes him suited to lead its AI journey.
For founders and business leaders, the appointment highlights a broader shift: AI is increasingly being positioned as an operational capability, not only a technology function. The challenge for Honasa will be to turn its AI ambitions into measurable improvements in execution, decision-making and business performance.
Honasa Consumer Shares Under Pressure
Honasa Consumer shares were reported at Rs 427.15 on the NSE at 1:30 PM on October 23, down 3.45% from the previous close of Rs 442.40. This was an intraday market snapshot; the share-price movement alone does not establish that the leadership appointment caused the decline. Market prices can move for several reasons, and the reported figure may differ from the closing price.
The leadership change comes as the company looks to strengthen its technology capabilities across its beauty and personal care portfolio. Investors will ultimately be watching whether the strategy translates into measurable business results, rather than the appointment alone.
