Radhakishan Shivkishan Damani is an Indian billionaire businessman, investor and the founder of DMart, one of India's leading supermarket chains operated by Avenue Supermarts Ltd. Known as the "Retail King of India," he built his reputation through disciplined investing, careful business decisions and a focus on affordable shopping.
Born on July 12, 1955, in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Damani grew up in Mumbai. He studied commerce at the University of Mumbai but dropped out after his first year. Following his father's death, he entered the stock market and gradually established himself as a successful investor.
During the early 1990s, Damani gained significant attention for his trading strategies, including short selling during the stock market turmoil associated with Harshad Mehta.
