Healthtech startup CureMeAbroad has raised $1.1 million in pre-seed funding in a round led by healthcare-focused venture capital firm SteerX Ventures, with participation from existing investor AIRA.
Founded in 2025 by Aditya Oza and Mikhail Bohra, CureMeAbroad helps patients looking for healthcare outside their home countries connect with accredited hospitals and treatment providers.
The startup plans to use the fresh capital to expand its hospital network, enter new patient markets and strengthen its AI-powered technology.
Expanding Healthcare Across Borders
CureMeAbroad is building a platform that brings different parts of the international healthcare journey together, including hospital discovery, treatment planning, pricing information and patient support.
The company is focusing on making cross-border healthcare simpler and more transparent for patients who are looking for quality treatment at a reasonable cost.
CureMeAbroad currently operates across six countries and attracts more than 22,500 visitors every month.
New Markets and Medical Specialties
The new funding will also help CureMeAbroad enter more patient source markets and strengthen its operations and technology teams.
The startup plans to expand beyond its current focus into specialties such as orthopaedics and oncology. It is also exploring physical experience centres in key international markets to provide more support to patients during their healthcare journey.
Targeting $100 Million in Treatment Bookings
CureMeAbroad currently has an annualised patient treatment booking run rate of around $4.8 million.
The company has set an ambitious target of reaching $100 million in annual patient treatment bookings by FY28.
The startup believes demand for medical tourism is growing as patients in countries such as the US, Europe and Australia face high healthcare costs and long waiting times.
India, with its large pool of doctors, hospitals and comparatively affordable treatment options, is being positioned by CureMeAbroad as an important destination for international patients.
SteerX Backs AI-First Healthcare Platform
Lalit Singla, Founder and CEO of SteerX Ventures, said the firm sees a need for an AI-native platform that can bring healthcare discovery, treatment planning, pricing transparency and patient assistance together.
According to Singla, rising healthcare costs and long waiting periods are encouraging more patients to explore treatment options across borders, creating an opportunity for technology to make the process more trusted and seamless.
