Foundry, a consumer technology venture launched by former Dyson India Managing Director Ankit Jain, has raised Rs 12 Cr in pre-seed equity funding led by BEENEXT and Kettleborough VC. The startup plans to develop premium home appliances using proprietary, patent-pending technology, beginning with kitchen products targeted for launch in the second half of 2027.

The round also includes participation from Rishubh Satiya of Plix, Anindita Sampath of Yogabar and Anita Pramoda of Owned Outcomes. The capital will support technology development and product engineering as Foundry prepares its first product range.

  • Foundry Bets on Technology Led Kitchen Appliances

Foundry's initial product range will focus on kitchen appliances, with a launch planned for the second half of 2027. The company intends to expand into other areas of the home over time.

Its strategy centres on developing proprietary technology alongside industrial design, engineering and material selection. The aim is to rethink how appliances are engineered and experienced, rather than simply introduce incremental upgrades to existing products.

The startup also plans to build patent-pending technology into its products. However, details about the technology, specific appliances, pricing and manufacturing arrangements have not yet been disclosed.

  • Ankit Jain Brings Two Decades of Consumer Experience

Jain brings more than two decades of experience across consumer businesses and technology. Before launching Foundry, he spent nine years at Dyson in leadership roles spanning India, Hong Kong, the Middle East and Africa.

He previously held positions at Nestlé, Walmart and Star TV. His experience in premium consumer products could be relevant as Foundry develops its product positioning, distribution strategy and customer experience.

Foundry enters a competitive Indian appliance market that includes established manufacturers and newer brands such as Atomberg, Wonderchef and Nuuk. Its challenge will be to turn differentiated engineering into products that justify premium pricing while building manufacturing, distribution and after-sales service capabilities.

For an early-stage hardware company, the period between raising capital and launching products is particularly important: research, prototyping, testing and production readiness must all come together before commercial sales begin.

Foundry's Rs 12 crore pre-seed round gives it capital to develop that foundation ahead of its planned 2027 launch.
