Mysuru-based chemical process innovation startup NuSynth Technologies has raised Rs 36.5 Cr (approximately $4 million) in a seed funding round co-led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC, as it develops technology to make complex chemical manufacturing more cost-efficient and sustainable.

The investment will support the startup's research and development capabilities, proprietary chemical-process portfolio, scale-up infrastructure and team expansion. NuSynth initially plans to focus on chemicals used in the pharmaceutical and electronics industries.

The funding was reported on October 13, 2026, with Shastra VC also confirming NuSynth's inclusion in its seed-stage portfolio.

  • What Does NuSynth Technologies Do?

Founded in 2026 by Poorvank Purohit, Dr Ramesha A R, Abhishek Deo and Dipak Bajaj, NuSynth is developing alternative methods of manufacturing complex chemicals through scientific research and artificial intelligence.

Its approach involves examining raw materials, reaction pathways and production economics to identify potentially more efficient chemical synthesis processes.

Traditional chemical manufacturing can require multiple reaction stages, costly inputs, substantial energy consumption and hazardous substances. NuSynth aims to redesign these processes to improve production yields, safety, resource efficiency and commercial scalability.

  • How NuSynth Plans to Use AI in Chemical Research

NuSynth is building a research platform that combines predictive synthesis models with an AI-enabled knowledge engine.

The system is intended to capture experimental findings and use accumulated research data to guide subsequent experiments, molecule selection and process development.

Rather than relying exclusively on conventional trial-and-error methods, the startup aims to make chemical research more systematic and accelerate the development of commercially viable manufacturing processes.

However, the company has not publicly established quantified improvements in manufacturing costs, research timelines or production yields across its commercial operations.

  • Why the Rs 36.5 Crore Funding Matters

The investment highlights an emerging opportunity for Indian deeptech startups developing proprietary intellectual property for industrial applications.

NuSynth's strategy differs from conventional capacity-led chemical manufacturing. Its emphasis is on designing processes that manufacturing partners can potentially deploy at scale.

According to investor disclosures and industry reporting, the startup intends to work with Indian manufacturing partners, allowing it to pursue an asset-light production model.

This approach could help translate laboratory research into industrial applications without requiring NuSynth to build every manufacturing facility itself.

For India's speciality chemicals industry, commercially successful process innovation could improve production economics and potentially reduce dependence on imported chemical intermediates.

  • What Comes Next for NuSynth?

With the fresh capital, NuSynth plans to expand its research capabilities, build an initial portfolio of proprietary chemical processes and strengthen its commercial scale-up efforts.

The critical test will be whether its technologies can consistently deliver competitive costs, reliable yields and safe production at industrial scale.

For investors, the longer-term opportunity lies not simply in AI-assisted chemical research, but in whether NuSynth can convert scientific innovation into commercially valuable manufacturing intellectual property.
