Dehradun-based medtech startup Sunfox Technologies has raised $7 million (around Rs 67 crore) in a Series A funding round to expand its portable cardiac diagnostics platform Spandan across India and international markets.
The round was led by Ashish Kacholia, Lashit Sanghvi, Alchemy Capital and 3one4 Capital. Sunfox plans to use the fresh funding to grow its team, strengthen research and development, build clinical evidence and develop new cardiac technologies.
The company will also invest in regulatory, distribution and commercial operations as it looks to expand across the US, Europe and Africa.
Founded by Five Entrepreneurs
Sunfox Technologies was founded in 2016 by Rajat Jain, Arpit Jain, Sabit Rawat, Nitin Chandola and Saurabh Badola.
The company develops portable and AI-enabled cardiac diagnostic solutions for hospitals, clinics, telemedicine networks, public health programmes and home-based monitoring.
Its flagship Spandan platform allows healthcare workers and patients to record ECGs using a smartphone and share the reports with doctors for remote interpretation.
Spandan Brings ECG Testing Closer to Patients
Spandan is designed to make cardiac testing easier to access, especially in locations where specialist healthcare may not be readily available.
According to Sunfox, its technology can identify cardiac patterns that may need urgent attention, helping healthcare teams decide which patients require further testing or treatment.
The company has also developed Spandan One, a digital platform that supports remote ECG reviews, case coordination and management of tele-ECG networks.
In public health programmes, nurses and health workers can record ECGs at primary and community health centres. The data can then be sent to doctors and cardiologists at district-level hubs for review.
60,000 Devices Deployed Across India
Sunfox claims that around 60,000 Spandan devices have been deployed across India, covering more than 20,000 villages.
The company also says its Spandan One platform is used to screen around 5 million patients every year.
Sunfox has expanded beyond India as well and currently claims a presence in more than 15 countries.
The startup has regulatory approvals in India, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa, while it is working towards regulatory clearances in the US and European Union.
Backed by Shark Tank India Investors
Sunfox had previously raised around Rs 15 crore ($1.8 million) in 2024 in a round led by Venture Catalysts.
The company also received investment from all five participating investors during the first season of Shark Tank India, bringing additional visibility to its cardiac technology.
With the latest Series A funding, Sunfox is now looking to scale its technology, strengthen its clinical and engineering capabilities and reach more healthcare markets globally.
Growing Portable Cardiac Diagnostics Market
Sunfox operates in the portable ECG segment, where it competes with companies such as Agatsa, which offers SanketLife devices, and Cardiotrack, which provides handheld ECG devices and remote interpretation solutions.
As healthcare increasingly moves towards remote monitoring and decentralised diagnostics, Sunfox is betting on portable technology to make cardiac screening more accessible and easier to deliver.
