Bessemer Venture Partners has appointed Mayank Khanduja as a Partner in its India practice, as the global venture capital firm looks to strengthen its focus on early-stage startups.

In his new role, Mayank will focus on early-stage investments and work closely with founders from their first institutional funding round and beyond.

15 Years of Venture Investing Experience

Mayank brings around 15 years of experience in venture investing, with his previous roles including Elevation Capital and McKinsey.

His investment experience covers several fast-growing sectors, including consumer technology, gaming, healthcare, AI and deeptech.

Over the years, he has backed companies such as ShareChat, NoBroker, PlaySimple Games, Jeh Aerospace, MOC Cancer Care, Loop Health, Atlys, Seekho, General Autonomy and PierSight.

Bessemer Welcomes Mayank

Commenting on the appointment, Vishal Gupta, Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, said the firm was happy to have Mayank join its team.

Gupta highlighted Mayank’s 15 years of experience working with founders at the earliest stages and helping them build long-term businesses. He also said Mayank’s experience across consumer tech and AI will further strengthen Bessemer’s early-stage work in India.

Mayank said joining Bessemer is a privilege and that India is seeing a new generation of founders building companies with strong conviction.

He added that the early stage is where investors can be most useful to founders and said Bessemer’s research-driven approach and long history make it a strong platform to work with founders from day one.

Strong India Focus

Mayank holds an MBA from IIM-Calcutta and an engineering degree from IP University.

Bessemer has been active in India for around two decades and has backed several major companies, including Mediassist, Perfios, Swiggy and Urban Company.

More recently, the firm has partnered with startups such as Sarvam, Boldfit, Vetic, Easebuzz, Inrisk and Pluro.

In March 2025, Bessemer announced its second India fund with $350 million in capital, focusing on areas such as AI, fintech, enterprise technology, healthcare, consumer businesses and cybersecurity.

The firm has also recently announced $5.75 billion in new global capital to support founders from the seed stage through growth, with a strong focus on opportunities emerging in the AI era.
