Bengaluru-based climate-tech startup ECOPATH has raised Rs 2.25 crore in a seed funding round from Social Alpha and Gemcorp, as it looks to scale its zero-cement construction technology. The company says its order book has crossed Rs 40 crore within two years of operations.
Founded in 2024 by Sourabh Kumar and Abhishek Chhazed, ECOPATH develops cement-free concrete for roads, precast products and external infrastructure. The fresh capital will go towards expanding precast manufacturing capacity, strengthening supply chains, hiring talent and accelerating research and development.
The order book is nearly 18 times the size of the latest funding round. While this points to commercial interest in the company's products, the next challenge will be converting those orders into completed projects and recognised revenue as production scales.
How ECOPATH’s Zero Cement Technology Works
ECOPATH's EcoConcrete uses ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS), a by-product of steel manufacturing, along with proprietary binders to replace conventional Portland cement.
The company says its production process does not require conventional water-based curing, addressing both the emissions associated with cement and water consumption during construction.
Its product portfolio includes pavers, kerbstones, U-drains, boundary walls, slabs, solid blocks and ready-mix concrete. It also undertakes road construction and external infrastructure development, offering customers an integrated construction solution.
The company says its materials can reduce carbon emissions by around 75% compared with conventional cement-based alternatives, depending on the application and project specifications. Its website places the reduction range at 75-80%. These are company-reported figures, and actual savings can vary with material composition and project conditions.
40+ Commercial Customers and Infrastructure Deployments
ECOPATH says it has secured more than 40 paying commercial customers, including Lodha, Tata Power, RV University, Jindal Steel, Emmvee Solar, Modern Spaces, Hosachiguru and Nesta Ira Estates.
Its deployments span residential projects, educational campuses and industrial facilities. At RV University's new Mysore campus, the company estimates that its zero-cement paver installation avoided around 130 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. A deployment at Emmvee Solar is projected by the company to avoid more than 2,000 tonnes of emissions upon completion.
The company is also developing in-situ zero-cement concrete for roads, flooring and drainage, along with rapid-setting pothole repair solutions. In company-conducted trials, its repair technology has enabled repaired stretches to reopen to traffic within 15 minutes.
Expansion Across Five Indian Markets
ECOPATH plans to strengthen its presence across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Mumbai, with Bengaluru remaining its priority market. The company intends to expand manufacturing and supply chain capabilities in line with project demand.
It has also set a target of enabling a cumulative reduction of 10 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions by 2030. This is an ambition rather than an achieved impact figure.
The broader opportunity lies in making low-carbon construction materials commercially viable at scale. However, the company's growth will depend not only on demand but also on consistent product quality, manufacturing capacity, project-level performance and acceptance of cement alternatives in construction specifications.
For ECOPATH, the Rs 2.25 crore seed round provides capital to address these execution requirements while it works towards fulfilling its reported Rs 40 crore-plus order book.
