Jio Financial Services’ Investment Reaches Rs 375 Cr
Following the latest investment, Jio Financial Services’ total investment in Jio Allianz General Insurance has reached Rs 375 crore.
The company said its investment is a related party transaction, but it was completed on an arm’s length basis. Jio Financial Services also clarified that none of its promoters, promoter group entities or other group companies have any interest in the transaction.
No government or regulatory approval is required for the latest investment, according to the company.
Jio and Allianz Enter India’s General Insurance Market
The latest investment comes a few months after Jio Financial Services and Allianz Europe officially set up their joint venture.
In May 2026, Jio Financial Services announced the incorporation of Jio Allianz General Insurance Limited with Allianz Europe B.V.
The joint venture was created to carry out the business of general insurance, including health insurance, in India, subject to the required regulatory approvals.
The company’s formation followed an earlier announcement about the signing of a joint venture agreement between Jio Financial Services and Allianz Europe.
At the time of incorporation, Jio Financial Services planned to invest Rs 4.95 crore for the initial subscription of 49,50,000 equity shares, each with a face value of Rs 10. This investment represented a 50% stake in the joint venture.
Equal Partnership Between Jio and Allianz
The latest rights issue keeps the ownership structure evenly split between the two partners, with Jio Financial Services holding 50% and Allianz Europe holding the remaining 50%.
The Rs 640.10 Cr capital infusion gives the insurance venture additional funds to build its operations and prepare for growth in India’s large and competitive insurance market.
For Jio Financial Services, the move is another step in its wider financial services expansion, while Allianz brings its global insurance experience to the partnership.
Jio Financial Services Share Price
On the BSE, shares of Jio Financial Services Ltd ended at Rs 216.60, down Rs 1.30, or 0.60%, on the day of the announcement.
With the latest funding, Jio Allianz General Insurance now has a stronger capital base as it prepares to develop its general and health insurance business in India, subject to regulatory requirements.
