Bengaluru-based identity and authentication startup OTPless has appointed Geetanshu Singla, former Vice President of Technology at BharatPe and co-founder of Genwise, as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Singla will lead engineering, product development, platform architecture, reliability and security across OTPless’s authentication and fraud prevention systems. These include Silent Network Authentication, WhatsApp authentication, device intelligence and passkeys.

Geetanshu Singla Returns to Work With OTPless Founders

At BharatPe, Singla worked closely with OTPless co-founders Satyam Nathani and Tanmay Sagar during the fintech company’s early growth. He later co-founded Genwise, which shut down operations in December last year.

Singla’s appointment comes amid several leadership changes at OTPless. On September 18, Satyam Nathani became Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while Tanmay Sagar took over as Chief Operating Officer (COO). On October 1, the company appointed early team member Manas Poddar as Chief Business Officer (CBO).

Sagar said that login and authentication are critical for large consumer platforms, as failed or slow verification can lead to lost customers. He added that Singla’s experience in building and managing technology at unicorn scale would strengthen the trust customers place in OTPless.

Singla said he had worked closely with Nathani and Sagar at BharatPe and described joining OTPless as “coming back home.” He also highlighted the opportunity to expand the company’s services beyond OTP-based login into a broader identity and trust platform.

OTPless Expands Its Authentication Business

Founded in 2023, OTPless provides authentication and identity infrastructure to consumer internet companies. Its technology helps businesses verify users through Silent Network Authentication, WhatsApp authentication, device intelligence and passkeys, reducing their dependence on SMS-based one-time passwords.

The startup says its platform authenticates more than 300 million users across consumer brands, including Meesho, Zepto, Navi, PhysicsWallah, ShareChat, Shiprocket and ixigo.

OTPless has grown its topline 2.5 times over the past year, reaching annualised revenue of ₹36 crore. It has also reported break-even performance over the last two quarters.

OTPless Has Raised Over $6 Million

The company has raised more than $6 million from investors, including Venture Highway, White Venture, FJ Labs, SIDBI and Piper Serica.

With Singla joining as CTO, OTPless aims to strengthen its technology as it serves large consumer platforms and expands its authentication and fraud prevention capabilities.

As more businesses look for faster and safer ways to verify users, OTPless is positioning itself to play a bigger role in India’s digital identity and authentication market.
