Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has invested in Better Nutrition, a biofortified food brand, and joined the company as its brand ambassador. The partnership comes as the actor develops an interest in farming and the quality of food grown on agricultural land. As part of the association, Dhawan will also work with the company to turn his farm into a biofortified farm.

Better Nutrition aims to make everyday food more nutritious by offering staples such as atta, dal, rice and millets. According to the company, its products contain up to twice the levels of iron, zinc and other essential micronutrients. The products are available through leading quick-commerce platforms and the company’s website.

How Better Nutrition Is Making Everyday Food More Nutritious

Better Nutrition focuses on improving the nutritional value of food right from the farming stage. The company uses biofortified seeds, soil science and farm-level testing to grow crops with higher levels of essential nutrients.

It also uses X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technology to measure and verify nutrient levels at the source. After testing and validation, the crops are processed into everyday food products that people can easily include in their regular meals.

The company’s approach connects farming with nutrition, helping bring nutrient-rich staples to consumers without changing the role these foods play in their daily diets.

Varun Dhawan’s Farming Journey Leads to an Investment

Dhawan’s association with Better Nutrition began after he acquired agricultural land and started learning more about soil, seeds and farming practices. His interest in understanding how food is grown eventually led him to explore biofortified farming.

The actor has now taken his involvement further by investing in the company and becoming its brand ambassador. He will also work with Better Nutrition to develop his own farm using biofortification practices.

“We’re working together to make my farm biofortified. And yeah, Better Nutrition is my brand now too. I really like the mission behind it, and I want to be part of that journey. You’ll be seeing a lot more of me with my brand. So this is quite personal for me,” Dhawan said.

His involvement reflects his interest in understanding food production more closely and supporting the company’s mission to improve the nutritional value of everyday staples.

What Better Nutrition’s Founders Say About the Partnership

Prateek Rastogi, co-founder and CEO of Better Nutrition, said the company works to improve the nutritional quality of everyday food through changes at the seed and soil stages. Testing and validation are also important parts of its process.

He added that Dhawan’s decision to invest in the company and develop his farm as a biofortified farm showed his interest in the company’s approach to food and farming.

Founded by Prateek Rastogi and Aishwarya Bhatnagar, Better Nutrition follows a seed-to-shelf model. This means the company works across different stages, including seeds, soil, farming, testing, crop validation, processing and the final food products sold to consumers.

Its product range includes biofortified atta, rice and pulses, with a focus on bringing improved nutrition into everyday meals.

Better Nutrition Sees Interest From Farm Owners

Better Nutrition has also received enquiries from farm owners interested in adopting biofortified farming practices. The interest followed videos about Dhawan’s farming journey and the announcement that his farm would be developed as a biofortified farm.

To support this interest, the company has opened applications for its Biofortified Farm programme through its website. Farm owners can submit their details for evaluation, after which the company will assess whether their farms are suitable for the programme.

The initiative will help Better Nutrition identify farms where it can apply its expertise in seeds, soil science and nutrient testing. It also aims to expand the company’s network of farms exploring biofortification.

What’s Next for Better Nutrition?

With Varun Dhawan joining as an investor and brand ambassador, Better Nutrition is bringing greater attention to the link between farming practices and the nutritional value of everyday food.

The company’s seed-to-shelf model focuses on improving food quality from the beginning of the farming process to the products reaching consumers. Its Biofortified Farm programme could also help connect more farmers with the practices and testing methods needed to grow nutrient-rich crops.

As interest in food quality and nutrition continues to grow, Better Nutrition is working to make biofortified staples more accessible while encouraging farmers to explore new ways of improving the nutritional value of their crops.
