Indian startup dubdub has raised $1.3 million in an equity seed round led by 3one4 Capital, Antler and Stellaris Venture Partners. Founded by Kaustubh Priye and Supan Shah, the swipe-based trivia and puzzle app will use the capital to strengthen its product and engineering teams, introduce new interactive formats and improve personalisation.
Launched in March 2026, dubdub has crossed 20,000 downloads, according to the company. The startup aims to make short-form entertainment more interactive by replacing passive scrolling with quick questions, puzzles and mini-games.
Kaustubh Priye and Supan Shah Build on Their Previous Startup Experience
Dubdub was founded by Kaustubh Priye, chief executive officer, and Supan Shah, chief product and technology officer. The duo previously built Aldun, a health technology company that streamlined hospital insurance processing and patient discharge. Aldun worked with hospital groups including Apollo, Aster, Fortis, Manipal and Narayana before being acquired by Care.Fi.
The founders bring more than 30 years of combined experience at companies including Flipkart, Udaan and OnMobile. Their latest venture moves into consumer technology, where sustained user engagement and repeat usage will be central to building a long-term business.
Dubdub offers interactive content across more than 20 categories, including cricket, Bollywood, pop culture, general knowledge, mythology and logical reasoning. It uses artificial intelligence alongside user interactions to personalise challenges according to individual interests. Users can also challenge friends and compare scores.
Funding to Expand Product and Personalisation
The new funding will support hiring across product and engineering, the development of additional interactive formats and improvements to the app’s personalised content feed.
Akshay Sharma, principal at 3one4 Capital, said the firm sees a shift towards short, interactive content experiences, with AI helping speed up content creation and personalisation. Rajiv Srivatsa, founding partner at Antler, highlighted the broader move from passive scrolling towards active participation.
Dubdub says its early retention rates are above the top percentile of casual games. However, the company has not publicly disclosed the exact retention figures or the benchmark used to support that claim.
The key test will be whether the startup can turn its early download numbers into consistent engagement. In a crowded consumer app market, a steady supply of relevant, accurate and engaging challenges will matter as much as the initial product experience.
For dubdub, the seed round provides capital to develop that proposition. Its next phase will depend on how effectively it converts curiosity into repeat use while building a broader interactive short-form entertainment platform.
