EV two-wheeler maker Ather Energy reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1.3 Cr in Q2 FY27, marking a sharp turnaround from a net loss of Rs 154.1 Cr in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations rose 62.9% YoY to Rs 1,464.2 Cr, supported by higher vehicle sales and growing demand for its electric scooters.
The Bengaluru-based company’s results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, mark a significant improvement from the Rs 51.1 Cr net loss recorded in Q1 FY27. However, the return to profitability at the net level was narrow, and other income played an important role in the outcome.
Ather’s operating performance also improved, with EBITDA turning positive. The results suggest that higher revenue and better cost absorption are helping the company move towards sustainable profitability, although maintaining that position will depend on margins, input costs and continued demand growth.

The move signals that Ather is preparing for higher production volumes even as it works to make its profits more consistent. The Hosur plant was operating at 98% of capacity at peak production, according to the company’s filing.
Founders Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain Face the Next Test
Ather Energy was founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta, CEO, and Swapnil Jain, CTO, who built the company around in-house engineering, electric scooters and charging infrastructure.
The latest results are an important milestone for the founders, but the Rs 1.26 crore quarterly profit is small relative to revenue of Rs 1,464 crore. Other income of Rs 62.71 crore helped lift total income above expenses, so sustained operating profitability remains the more important test.
For the first half of FY27, Ather reported a consolidated loss of Rs 49.83 crore, compared with Rs 332.30 crore in the corresponding period last year. The reduction in losses, alongside higher revenue, indicates a significant improvement in its financial performance.
The next phase will depend on whether Ather can maintain sales momentum, manage manufacturing costs and use its expanded capacity efficiently. The company’s results point to progress, but consistent profits over several quarters will provide a clearer measure of the turnaround.
