Venttup, an engineering-led manufacturing startup founded by Sandeep Nair, M. Wasim Ankli and Joseph Panakkal, has raised $3 million in a Pre-Series A funding round co-led by Rainmatter, backed by Zerodha, and Unicorn India Ventures.
The Bengaluru-focused startup will use the capital to expand its engineering team, strengthen precision manufacturing and rapid-prototyping capabilities, and adopt artificial intelligence to improve business-to-business (B2B) sourcing and supplier intelligence.
The funding comes as Venttup looks to help businesses move from component design and testing to scalable manufacturing across energy transition, defence, aerospace, space and other industrial sectors.
Bengaluru Facility to Strengthen Precision Manufacturing
Venttup is setting up a manufacturing facility in Bengaluru to support precision machining, turning, sheet-metal production and rapid prototyping. The facility is expected to help customers move faster from early-stage product development to validated components ready for production.
Rather than relying entirely on its own manufacturing capacity, Venttup combines engineering capabilities with a network of quality-checked Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Its manufacturing-as-a-service model connects customers with suppliers while supporting design standardisation, testing, validation and production.
The company also plans to use AI to improve supplier discovery, sourcing decisions and operational efficiency. Its broader objective is to build a more dependable domestic supply chain for businesses that need specialised components.
Revenue Grows Fivefold to ₹10 Crore
Venttup said its revenue grew fivefold to ₹10 crore in FY2025–26 following its undisclosed seed funding round in 2024, which was backed by Unicorn India Ventures.
The startup added more than 15 large companies to its customer base over the past 12 months and reported a business opportunity pipeline of approximately ₹30 crore across new energy, mobility and smart infrastructure.
The pipeline represents potential business opportunities, rather than confirmed revenue or completed orders. Converting these opportunities into repeat manufacturing contracts will be important as Venttup expands its production capabilities.
Investors Back India’s Industrial Supply Chain Opportunity
Rainmatter and Unicorn India Ventures are backing Venttup as demand grows for domestic engineering and precision manufacturing capabilities in critical industries.
Abhinav Singh Negi, Lead – Climate and Deeptech at Rainmatter, said hardware startups often struggle to find reliable partners that can take components from validation to production. He highlighted Venttup’s combination of an in-house precision facility and a wider network of manufacturing MSMEs.
Bhaskar Majumdar, Managing Partner at Unicorn India Ventures, said the firm had backed Venttup since its seed round and was co-leading the new investment to support its next stage of growth.
For Sandeep Nair and his co-founders, the challenge now is to turn engineering expertise and supplier access into consistent, scalable production. In sectors such as defence, aerospace and energy infrastructure, customers need not only competitive costs but also reliable quality, documentation and delivery.
Venttup’s next phase will test whether its model can deliver that reliability at scale while helping Indian manufacturers serve both domestic demand and global buyers.
