Anjali Sardana, founder of instant household services startup Pronto, is expanding her presence in artificial intelligence with her new venture Provision Labs acquiring Mumbai-based hardware startup Basilisk Industries. The acquisition brings hardware engineering capabilities into Provision's physical AI business, strengthening its focus on technologies that help machines understand and interact with the real world.
Sardana announced the acquisition in a LinkedIn post on November 2, 2026, confirming that Basilisk founder Shourya Watwani would join Provision Labs to lead hardware development and work on the company's in-house post-processing models.
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
According to Sardana, the Basilisk team has already made progress on several projects, including developing a metric 3D hand-tracking model, redesigning Provision's perception hardware and building the first version of a lightweight, high-fidelity tactile glove.
The acquisition marks an important step in Provision's efforts to develop capabilities across both hardware and software rather than relying exclusively on external hardware solutions.
Why Anjali Sardana Is Betting on Physical AI
Provision Labs is a San Francisco-based venture that describes itself as a data, evaluation and deployment layer for physical AI.
Unlike conventional AI applications that primarily process text, images or digital information, physical AI systems are designed to perceive their surroundings and perform tasks in real-world environments. Robotics is one of the key applications of this technology.
Training these systems requires large volumes of real-world data, including visual information, movement patterns and tactile feedback.
This is where Provision's latest acquisition becomes relevant. Its 3D hand-tracking technology can help capture human movement, while tactile gloves can collect information about physical interactions that ordinary cameras cannot fully record.
Provision Labs is also hiring researchers and engineers across San Francisco, Toronto and Bengaluru, with roles spanning computer vision, perception, tactile data, environment reconstruction and hardware.
Provision Labs' Investors and Funding Details
Provision Labs has listed Lachy Groom, General Catalyst, Bain Capital Ventures (BCV) and Glade Brook Capital among its backers.
However, the company has not publicly disclosed its funding amount, valuation or the financial details of the Basilisk acquisition.
The venture's investor backing includes several names already associated with Sardana's first startup, Pronto.
Anjali Sardana Continues to Lead Pronto
Alongside building Provision Labs, Sardana continues to lead Pronto, the household services platform she founded in 2025.
Pronto connects households with professionals offering services such as cleaning, laundry and meal preparation.
In May 2026, the startup closed its Series B funding round at $45 million, following an additional $20 million investment led by Lachy Groom. The funding valued Pronto at $200 million, double its valuation in the first tranche of the round.
Sardana also shared that Pronto had recorded its highest-ever bookings over the preceding two months, while average order value continued to increase.
The acquisition of Basilisk Industries signals a broader ambition for Sardana beyond consumer services. By bringing hardware development, perception technology and tactile data capabilities into Provision Labs, she is positioning the new venture to address an important infrastructure challenge in the emerging physical AI ecosystem.
For India's startup ecosystem, the development also highlights how founders from consumer internet businesses are increasingly exploring opportunities in deeper technology and AI infrastructure.
