PB Fintech, the parent company of Policybazaar and Paisabazaar, reported a 43% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 192.39 Cr for Q2 FY27. Revenue from operations rose 35% to Rs 2,177.71 Cr, reflecting continued growth in its insurance and credit businesses.

The Gurugram-based company announced its results on October 30, 2026. Its total insurance premium increased 38% to ₹9,385 crore during the quarter, with new protection policies remaining the main growth driver.

The results come at a crucial time for the company. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is reviewing insurance distribution rules, including proposed changes to commission structures. Any reduction in distributor payouts could affect the economics of Policybazaar's core business.

Insurance Business Leads PB Fintech’s Growth

PB Fintech’s new protection business, covering health and term insurance, recorded 42% YoY growth. New health insurance premium increased 46%, highlighting continued demand for protection products.

The company said its core insurance revenue grew 42% during the quarter. Its total insurance premium reached Rs 9,385 Cr, up from the year-ago period.

Distribution also remains an important part of its expansion strategy. PB Fintech said its insurance advisor network had reached around 5.5 lakh, with approximately 1.3 lakh additions during the quarter. Smaller cities and towns contributed 76% of the quarter's gross written premium, according to the company.

The growing contribution from these markets points to the opportunity in India's underpenetrated insurance sector, where digital platforms and local distribution networks can help reach customers beyond major urban centres.

Paisabazaar Lending Disbursals Continue to Grow

The company's credit marketplace, Paisabazaar, also delivered growth. Lending disbursals increased 22% YoY to Rs 4,739 crore, according to the reported quarterly figures.

PB Fintech said core credit revenue grew 19% during Q2 FY27. The performance is significant because the credit business provides another source of revenue as the group prepares for possible changes in insurance distribution economics.

Chairman and Group CEO Yashish Dahiya said the company would continue to invest in growth but pay closer attention to the balance between expansion and costs.

Yashish Dahiya Responds to Proposed Commission Changes

The regulatory discussion around insurance commissions remains a key issue for PB Fintech. IRDAI's consultation paper is aimed at improving customer outcomes, reducing mis-selling and strengthening the insurance distribution framework.

During the earnings call, Dahiya said lower distribution payouts would affect the company's insurance revenue. However, he indicated that PB Fintech would not compromise on customer service, claims assistance or its broader growth strategy.

The company is looking at three areas: expanding permitted non-insurance services, accelerating its wider financial-services ecosystem and improving cost discipline. Dahiya also said the company would wait for the final regulatory framework before making major strategic decisions.

Management has indicated that discretionary spending and customer-acquisition costs will receive closer scrutiny. It is also exploring non-insurance services that may be permitted under the proposed framework.

What the Results Mean for PB Fintech

The latest quarter shows that PB Fintech's insurance and credit platforms continue to grow, while profitability is improving. However, the next phase will depend partly on how the regulator finalises the commission framework and how quickly the company can build alternative revenue streams.

For investors, the key question is whether Policybazaar can maintain its growth and customer-service standards if distribution payouts change. Paisabazaar and other ecosystem services could become more important in diversifying the group's revenue base.

With Rs 192 crore in quarterly profit and insurance premium of Rs 9,385 crore, PB Fintech has delivered another strong quarter. The challenge now is to protect its growth model while adapting to a changing regulatory environment.
